** The State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT) (previously known as Vyaysayik Pariksha Parishad Uttar Pradesh (VPPUP)) was constituted in India’s Uttar Pradesh state during the year 1988.
** The SCVT is responsible for managing the varied technical training centers.
** These include both the government-aided Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and privately-funded Industrial Training Centers (ITCs).
** The ITIs and ITCs conduct vocational training for students, to add to the skilled workers base and cater to the manpower requirements of various industries.
** Every year, the Ms and ITC’s convene an entrance exam to admit students into their different trade programs.
** The SCVT UP (scvtup.in) also lays down the guidelines for conducting the training programs that are hosted by the Uttar Pradesh skill training centers.
** Moreover, the SCVT imparts instructions to these vocational training schools about the process for admitting students; the admission of students ensues on merit basis.
** As a result of the coordination between the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) and the State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT), the trade courses are conducted.
** The NCVT works at the national level; and the SCVT, at the state level. The NCVT guides the SCVT on the implementation of the drafted policies.
** The objective of establishing the vocational education centers is for imparting technical know-how, in a variety of engineering and non-engineering trades, to the aspiring candidates.
** There are more than 130 trades that the aspirants can enroll in, including the NCVT and SCVT ones.
** The NCVT trade programs award the National Level Certificates on course completion; and the SCVT ones, the State Level Trade Certificates.
** However, you must note that the eligibility criteria for the varied courses differ; thus, always read the norms carefully, and apply only if eligible.
